Abstract
La presente investigación, es de tipo descriptivo y de diseño no experimental. El objetivo general es determinar el nivel de inteligencia emocional en los alumnos del colegio educativo particular Santa María de Breña. La muestra estuvo constituida por 122 adolescentes, entre varones y mujeres, en edades comprendidas entre 14 y 16 años. El materiaL que se ha utilizado fue el inventario ICE de Bar-On): Niños y adolescente (forma completa) adaptado por Ugarriza y Pajares (2003) y está compuesto por 60 ítems, dividido en los siguientes componentes: intrapersonal, interpersonal, manejo del estrés, adaptabilidad, estado de ánimo general e impresión positiva.

The general objective is to determine the level of emotional intelligence in the students of the private school Santa Maria de Breña. The sample consisted of 122 adolescents, between men and women, aged between 14 and 16 years. The material used was the ICE inventory of Bar-On): Children and adolescents (complete form) adapted by Ugarriza and Pajares (2003) and is composed of 60 items, divided into the following components: intrapersonal, interpersonal, stress management, adaptability, general mood and positive impression.
