Abstract
The fracture of the distal extremity of the femur continues to represent a fracture that is difficult to resolve because of its location and anatomy, which adds to the importance of the associated joint (the knee). This work was responsible for collecting and selecting information to be able to establish an efficient treatment seeking the prompt rehabilitation of the patient. Books, articles and studies were reviewed with scientific evidence of platforms such as pubmed, scielo and redalyc, made mainly in the last 10 years. The anatomical and biomechanical aspects were reviewed as the main basis for understanding the involvement of this injury and its consequences. It was demonstrated that the most effective treatment is the surgical and different exercises and strategies of post-surgical physiotherapeutic treatment were exposed in this work. The reviewed studies agree on the importance of early intervention in physical therapy for better and faster recovery of the patient
