Abstract
The main objective of this research is to know the relationship between Perceived Stress and Metabolic Syndrome, in a sample of 108 patients, with ages ranging from 20 to 70 years (M = 42.45, SD = 1.75) belonging to the Life Reform Program of Essalud Ayacucho Assistance Network. To achieve this end, the Perceived Stress Questionnaire (PSS 14) (Remor, 2006) and the Diagnostic Criteria for Metabolic Syndrome (International Diabetes Federation, 2005) were used. The data processing was performed using the Chi Square statistical test, where it was reported that Perceived Stress has a significant relationship with the Metabolic Syndrome having an asymptonic significance of (= 0.044), it was also reported that there is a significant relationship between the High Level of Perceived Stress and the diagnosis of patients with Metabolic Syndrome (= 0.029) and the Low Perceived Stress Level and the diagnosis of patients without Metabolic Syndrome (= 0.00). Arriving at the conclusion that the Perceived Stress Level constitutes an influential variable in the diagnosis of the Metabolic Syndrome. The possible explanations of the findings are analyzed, which contributes to the knowledge of these variables in said population and how they could be explored better in the future
