Abstract
El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la prevalencia de enfermedad periodontal en alumnos con Síndrome de Down en el Centro Educativo Básico Especial Despertar en la ciudad de Lima en el Año 2015. El diseño metodológico empleado fue descriptivo, observacional y transversal. Para este propósito se realizó el examen clínico a una muestra conformada por treinta alumnos con Síndrome de Down entre los 12 y 16 años de edad de ambos sexos (Femenino: 43.33% y Masculino: 56.67%) y los datos obtenidos fueron registrados en una ficha de acuerdo al Índice Periodontal de Ramfjord, El análisis estadístico se realizó en el Software SPSS versión 20.0. Dando como resultado que en el sexo masculino, el 53.33% de la muestra presentan enfermedad periodontal. En el sexo femenino, el 46.67% de la muestra presentan enfermedad periodontal, haciendo un total de 100% de alumnos con enfermedad periodontal. Se concluye que el 100% de los alumnos estudiados presentan enfermedad periodontal.
