Abstract
The objective of the present investigation was to determine the difference in the effects of three disinfectant substances on the surface characteristics of the gutta percha cones evaluated by scanning electron microscopy. The methodological design used in the Research Project was Experimental, the type of research was Comparative and In Vitro. In order to fulfill the general objective of the study, a sample composed of 40 gutta-percha cones was used, which were selected, in a non-probabilistic way, according to the selection criteria that were proposed in the study. The results showed that all the guttapercha cones present superficial discontinuity, with 5.25% Hypochlorite present crystals, with 1% peracetic acid presents microporosities and 96% alcohol does not affect the surface structure of the cone. The study concludes that alcohol at 96% does not affect the structure of the gutta-percha cone
