Abstract
La articulación temporomandibular (ATM) es una estructura móvil, se podría decir una de las más utilizadas por el hombre ya que es necesaria para funciones importantes como el hecho de hablar, deglutir etc. Alguna disfunción en dicha articulación por diferentes factores pueden desencadenar diferentes síntomas como dolor, alteración en su función y limitaciones. El diagnóstico se puede realizar por anamnesis, índice de Helmiko, pruebas explorativas y pruebas de imágenes, existe un tratamiento multidisciplinario de las disfunciones temporomandibulares como también diversas técnicas manuales en las que se pueden aplicar según la disfunción
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a mobile structure, one could say one of the most used by man since it is necessary for important functions such as talking, swallowing etc. Some dysfunction in this joint by different factors can trigger different symptoms such as pain, impaired function and limitations. The diagnosis can be made by anamnesis, Helmiko index, exploratory tests and imaging tests, there is a multidisciplinary treatment of the temporomandibular dysfunctions as well as several manual techniques in which they can be applied according to the dysfunction
