Abstract
El presente trabajo de investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación que existe entre la educación para la salud y el conocimiento sobre diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en estudiantes de secundaria de la institución educativa San Benito de Palermo, Ate en el año 2017.
La investigación se realizó bajo un enfoque cuantitativo utilizando el método descriptivo – correlacional de corte transversal. La población estudiada fue de 143 estudiantes de la institución educativa San Benito de Palermo.
Para la recolección de los datos se utilizó como instrumento un cuestionario de 31 ítems, validado por juicios de expertos y el estadístico Alfa de Cronbach, se obtuvo resultados que en conocimiento sobre diabetes tipo 2, el 25,17% de los estudiantes presentó un nivel bueno, el 42,36% un nivel regular y el 31,47% un nivel malo. Las actividades de educación para la salud presentaron un nivel bueno del 29,37%, un nivel regular del 47,55% y un nivel malo del 23,08%. Los resultados obtenidos y la correlación de Spearman de 0.544, representado este resultado como moderado, con una significancia estadística de p=0.001 siendo menor que 0.01, muestran que existe una correlación significativa entre la educación para la salud y el conocimiento sobre diabetes tipo 2.
Se recomendó a los gestores de la institución educativa, fortalecer la promoción de alimentación saludable implementando quioscos saludables y continuar promoviendo la actividad física. Se recomendó efectivizar convenios con instituciones de salud para que se realicen actividades de promoción de la salud en la institución educativa, por último se recomendó implementar un tópico de enfermería para que la enfermera cumpla su función promocional y preventiva de manera sostenida
This research work intended to determine the relationship existing between health education and the knowledge about diabetes mellitus type 2 in high school students of the Educational Institution San Benito of Palermo (Institución educativa San Benito de Palermo), Ate, in 2017. The research was carried out based on a quantitative approach using a cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational method. The sample population consisted of 143 students of the Educational Institution San Benito of Palermo. The researcher used a structured survey as a technique, and as an instrument, a questionnaire of 31 items validated by experts’ opinions and by Cronbach’s Alpha reliability. Data were processed and the result obtained was as follows: 25.17% of the students shows a high level. 42.36% shows a regular level and 31.47% shows a bad level in knowledge about diabetes mellitus type 2. Health education activities shows a good level of 29.37%, a regular level of 47.55% and a bad level of 23.08%.The results obtained and the Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.544, which represents a moderated result with a statistical significance of p=0.001, being less than 0.01, indicates that there is a significant correlation between health education and the knowledge about diabetes mellitus type 2. The managers of the educational institution were recommended to strengthen and promote healthy eating habits by implementing healthy kiosks and encouraging physical activities. Furthermore, it was recommended making agreements with health institutions in order to do activities encouraging healthy lifestyles in educational institution, and, finally, it was suggested implementing a nurse’s station, so the nurse fulfills her function of permanent encouragement and prevention
