Abstract
Periodontal disease is one of the diseases that affect the dental protection and support system. Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disorder of metabolic disorders in which there is no (DM Type I) or little production of insulin, or resistance to it caused by the receptors of target cells (DM Type II). Between these two diseases will present a bidirectional relationship in which bacterial infections, present in periodontal disease, will produce the resistance of tissues to insulin by the action of cytokines stimulated by periondontopathogens
