Abstract
During the stage of temporary and mixed dentition it can be said that it is ideal to perform an interceptive treatment, which will allow intervention in the development of some malocclusion, since when guiding the teeth during this stage of growth and development of the dentition there is a smaller possibility of return. The objective is to correct a better dentoalveolar, muscular environment, correction of skeletal discrepancies already existing or in the process of development and thus prepare a better orofacial environment before the permanent teeth erupt. It is very important to be able to take into account the transition from the primary dentition to the permanent dentition since during the primary dentition some features and defined characteristics that remain constant during the period of the mixed dentition, but it has also been found that primary occlusions with traits of normality will not always end with normal permanent occlusion. Within the mixed dentition it is necessary to take into account the chronological age for the eruption of the permanent teeth, since at this stage there is a process of dental replacement hard between six and eight years, in which deciduous and permanent teeth coexist in the mouth. The mixed dentition that develops in two periods: early mixed dentition and mixed late dentition and a period that occurs between the two stages called the rest period.
