Abstract
The temporal and masseteral region is one of the most important areas for the dentist. the temporal region is made up of planes, as well as the masseter region, and it is very important to know each one of them, since for some intervention or malfunction of these know what the problem is. The temporal region is made up of borders, a cutaneous plane that is the skin, a subcutaneous cellular tissue, an aponeurosis, a muscular system that can undergo alterations like hypertrophy or in some cases hypotrophy. temporal hypertrophy is a benign condition that can manifest bilaterally or unilaterally. it presents as main problem the aesthetic component. several treatments have been proposed, the surgical alternative being the most radical and predictable is also the botulinum toxin which is the most conservative treatment. The hypertrophy usually in the physical examination is usually unnoticed has an incidence in the adult male sex, this can be acquired congenital by hyperactivity of the temporomandibular joint and psychological factors. the hypertrophy can be symptomatic or asymptomatic, in the symptomatic facial asymmetry, focal pain, edema, headache, bruxism. The masseterine region is also made up of boundaries, a skin plane that comes to the skin, a subcutaneous cellular tissue, an aponeurosis, a muscular system that also suffers from alterations such as the temporal one called the masseter hypertrophy. These two regions present the two important muscles of mastication which are the important lifting muscles in dentistry and in the masticatory system.
